We provide instant quotes for 3d printing with a fast lead time. We are competitively priced at:..

  • PLA = £0.35p/cm3
  • Woodfill, bronzefill & ninja flex = £0.65/cm3
  • Photopolymer resin = £1.15/cm3
  • powdered nylon = £0.90p/cm3

To translate in English, a dice sized PLA cube cost £2 to print and a full scale hand around £30.

3D Print FDM (extrusion nozzle)

Microworkshops uses FDM 3d printing to produce rapid cheap models overnight. PLA & ABS.

Fused deposition modeling has developed massively in recent years. Cylindrical filament is extruded though a tiny nozzle building prints layer by layer. Its a highly economic printing technology in both production time and material cost.

FDM can reach high resolutions but is prone to warping, bumpy surface detail and can be hairy where sharp over hangs are located. Its particularly useful for iterative prototyping due to its cheap and rapid nature. We advise to use SLA or SLS for final models as they have a greater surface finish, look more like injection molded parts and print with fewer or no defects.

FDM Pros & Cons

+ Fast printing time

+ No set up fees

+ Large build volume

+ Cheap & strong

– Liney surface finish

– Prone to warping

– Defects with overhang

3D Print SLA Resin Printing

SLA rapid prototyping or stereolithography, widely considered the gold standard of plastic printing. It uses a laser to cure layers of liquid resin one by one until a very well finished part is built and ready for post processing. This technology creates model perfect for makers, engineers and artists. It has an injection molded looking finish and is capable of printing even the finest of small details. Its time costly and raw resin is expensive but well worth the money. Also suitable for silicone mold making.

Theres also plenty of websites where you can download free 3d print ready stl files. If you see something you like or want tailoring you can send to us once you’ve downloaded from either www.turbosquid.com or www.yeggi.com

SLA Pros & Cons

+ Injection mold looking finish

+ Good with overhangs

+ Suitable for molds

+ Medium build volume

+ Super high quality

– Slow printing time

– More expensive

3D Print SLS Powder Printing

SLS works in a similar method to SLA printing. Instead of curing liquid with a high powered ultraviolet laser it cures tiny granules of nylon powder. The notable difference between these 2 processes is SLS doesn’t require any support structures as the part is suspended by its own print material. Regardless of the forms complexity it will print with no defects.!
