3D Printing Service UK

Our 3d printing service UK, based in north london, can 3d print a wide range of processes and materials to suit your criteria. Also, we can help with other issues you may have with STL files. For instance, if your object has been designed in Google SketchUp or Maya, chances are the drawing will be incomplete, in terms of being ready to 3D Print. For these problems we can provide, what is known as, a mesh clean. Subsequently, ensuring your print will arrive on time with no defects.

If you happen to be on a tight budget, we have lower quality options like low resolution FDM 3d printing. This in particular, is perfect for quick and dirty prototypes which are often sufficient for form fit and function testing. However, if its your final prototype and ultimatly, you are using it for a presentation or pre-mass production model, we also provide the highest quality 3d prints such as SLS nylon or SLA resin. If you would like to discuss these details with one of our in house printing experts simply email us your STL file and feel free or give us a call on 0203 034 1334. One of our in house experts would be more than happy to discuss any 3D printing queries or issues you may be experiencing.

SLA rapid prototyping or stereolithography, widely considered the gold standard of plastic printing. It uses a laser to cure layers of liquid resin one by one until a very well finished part is built and ready for post processing. This technology creates model perfect for makers, engineers and artists. It has an injection molded looking finish and is capable of printing even the finest of small details. Its time costly and raw resin is expensive but well worth the money. Also suitable for silicone mold making.

Microworkshops material ball SLS white

SLS Polyamide Nylon

SLS or 'selective laser sintering' is a fantastic 3d printing technology that produces robust, well built, supportless prints. It uses powdered nylon material, a thermoplastic polymer known as polyamide (PA). Its ideal for functional prototypes that require tight tolerances and are complex in geometry. It uses a laser to cure layers of nylon powder. Naturally a rough plastic, we can smooth using our polishing service. It comes in just black and white raw colors but can be dyed any color at extra cost. We have a glass filled option which is extra strong and stiff.

Microworkshops material ball FDM grey

FDM - PLA & ABS

FDM printing provides great print speed and raw material cost. Its usually considered to be the 'quick and dirty' printing (in comparison to its cousin's SLA & SLS). FDM uses a fine nozzle to extrude PLA plastic out of to a build a form bottom up layer by layer. It requires supports for over hangs so can leave support marks on the surface, we also offer dis-solvable supports FDM printing if you need a neat surface in over hang areas, costs a bit extra but well worth it.

Microworkshops material ball - Multi Jet fusion - grainy brown

MJF Multi-jet Fusion

Much like SLS its built with polyamide plastic and has a similar matt, rough finish, However it can capture finer details and thinner walls then SLS as well as being slightly cheaper. Comes in build sizes as large as 250mm x 340mm x 360mm. Most commonly comes in a stone grey finish. Unlike SLS nylon printing which is printed at 0.1mm layer heights, MJF is printed at 0.08mm. Large volume prints are very reasonably priced and free of any surface defects with intricate detailing.
